ASPCA Commercial

One commercial comes in mind when I am asked about an advertisement that has had an impact on me: The ASPCA commercial.

If you have ever seen the ASPCA TV commercial for neglected and abused animals, you had to have shed a tear. If you didn’t, you have no heart.

Numerous times, I remember sitting in front of the TV with my mom, and the commercial would come on…. we immediately looked at each other and had to change the channel before we started balling our eyes out.

This commercial hit us hard. We are total animal lovers, but I don’t think anyone could watch this commercial without feeling a sense of heartache for these animals.

The commercial plays sad music while showing dirty, neglected animals urging viewers to help stop the abuse of these innocent animals. The sadness on the animals faces is heart wrenching.

The sense of hopelessness on the animals faces, made my heart break, so much so that my mom and I gave in; we donated. In fact, we were part of the $30 million raised for Animals Cruelty Prevention Charity (New York Times).

Check out the commercial here. WARNING: You may need a box of tissues.

How to REALLY get in the spirit of Halloween

Ahhh, Halloween… the only day of the year it is okay to dress up as something totally inappropriate and not give a care in the world. But how exactly can you get in the exciting spirit of Halloween spirit?

Go to a haunted house

If you’re anything like me, the thought of strangers dressed in scary but cheesy costumes, jumping out of nowhere to scare you gives me a thrill. As much as this horrifies me and I have to admit that after, I am glad I did it.

Go to a pumpkin patch

Get some friends together and go to your local pumpkin patch! This is a great way to enjoy the beautiful Fall weather. While you’re at the pumpkin patch, pick out a few pumpkins to take home and carve.

Carve a pumpkin

After you picked out the perfect pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, carve it! If you are clumsy and do not trust yourself with a knife, there are plenty of pumpkin carving kits you can buy at Target, or on Amazon.

Go to a haunted forest

Although this is similar to haunted houses, I cannot stress how much fun haunted forests are! If you go, you are indeed in for a thrill!

Throw a Halloween party

Put some spooky decorations up and have some fun with family and friends! Back yard family themed Halloween games and a good playlist are always a good mix.

Watch a scary movie

Grab some popcorn and candy corn to enjoy a good ‘ole scary movie! If you have a Hulu, Netflix or Amazon Prime Video accounts, there are a variety of Halloween theme or scary movies to watch.

In conclusion, Halloween only happens once every 365 days… so make the best of it! There are a ton of different events and things you can do to get in the spirit.

Q. How did you get started selling your product?

A. “I started selling my first product, lip balm, to my friends at school in sixth grade. I made the formula in my kitchen and sold a lot! My mom asked me if I’d want to make it into a real business and of course I was all in!”

Q. What inspired you to start your business?

A. “I always had a high entrepreneurial spirit growing up and selling things was so fun for me. My mom recognized this and helped me see my potential. Q. Who inspires you the most?

A. My mom is my biggest inspiration. She is there woman I strive to be like, the way she accomplishes things and shows kindness and love to everyone is such an inspiration. She’s my best friend and I hope to be as amazing as her. She has given me the confidence to believe that I can accomplish whatever I dream. She’s the one who made me believe that it’s possible.

Q. What type of media platform do you use?

A. “We use instagram, facebook, and Pinterest to promote our brand and products.”

A. “Balancing school and my business hasn’t been easy. Finding a balance and scheduling out your time, and knowing what needs to be done within that time has helped me stay on top of everything. My mom and I are co-CEOs and we work together on the phone, email, and text all the time.”

Q. What is next for you?

A. “I plan to continue going to college and get my degree in business and continue to run Honestly Margo and keep growing. My goal is for people to have heard of the brand Honestly Margo.”
